Who We are...

Hello! We are Genevieve and Doug Boyd. When we first arrived in Spring Coulee in 2019, we were captivated by its rich history and the vibrant strength of its community. Our family-owned country store serves as our means of giving back — a place to express gratitude, support local residents, and extend a warm greeting to everyone who visits.

Our Journey...

When we first opened our doors, we were learning every day — about our community’s wants and needs, the challenges of each season, and how to create a store that felt welcoming to all. What stood out most was the incredible talent and creativity in Spring Coulee that often went unrecognized.

Those early lessons shaped our vision for the future. We dreamed of a store that not only carried the essentials but also celebrated local makers and supported the unique spirit of our community. At the time, we weren’t even sure if we would be successful enough to expand, but with the support of our neighbors and visitors, that dream began to grow.

The Original Woodshack

The story of the Spring Coulee store goes back to the 1950s, when it first opened as a small gas station. In the 1980s, Berry Gorham took it over and transformed it into something unforgettable. His store was packed with everything you could imagine — a little bit of this, a little bit of that — and it quickly became a gathering place for the community.

Through the ’80s and ’90s, Berry’s store wasn’t just a place to shop; it was part of the heartbeat of Spring Coulee. Generations of families remember stopping in, sharing stories, and finding exactly what they needed (and often things they didn’t know they needed). His hard work and dedication left a mark that is still remembered fondly today.
